About Us
» Overview | History | Core Values
Riverside Christian Fellowship is a contemporary pentecostal church. Sunday services are a place to be encouraged and encourage others in their faith. A place to worship God together. Relationships are cemented through focus groups (small groups meeting together around a common focus).
Together, we have a heart for our community and show this through good works, community projects and events.
We support missions both local and overseas.
History
» Where we've been...
Riverside Christian Fellowship was established in 1997.
The combination of two existing churches to form one fellowship. The former churches were:
» Kaiapoi New Life Fellowship - founded in 1976 by Malcolm Milligan who led the church for 10 years, and then led by Rick and Jeanette Dobbs, who led the church until we joined in 1997.
» Kaiapoi Assembly of God - founded in 1989 by David and Gail Coe, who led the church until we joined in 1997.
At the time of joining we purchased the building now occupied at 45 Charles St, Kaiapoi. It was built as the Rialto Picture theatre in 1935, and then used as the Kaiapoi community centre until 1997. Since owning the building we have renovated and painted it to make it a welcoming and comfortable place to be. Riverside is affiliated to the Assemblies of God in NZ inc, but because of our history, we also maintain relationships with New Life Churches of NZ.
Core Values
» We Beleive:
» Riverside Christian Fellowship exists to glorify God the Father, to love and obey Jesus Christ as Head and give full place for the Holy Spirit to function.
» Our goal is to minister in a way that brings its people towards full maturity in line with Ephesians 4:11-16 in the Bible, and we earnestly desire and are committed to continuous spiritual growth.
» We will be a church that remembers the poor, needy and sick within our communities, and appropriately ministers to them through good works of service.
» We are a church that recognises the Bible as it's supreme guide, and therefore seeks to be soundly scripturally based in all we plan and do.
» Our desire is to see society and lives transformed as we uphold God's standards and justice in all areas of life.
» We believe that we should operate as a unified community of servants with men and women exercising their spiritual gift(s), both within and outside the church premises.
» We will be a church that promotes and maintains Christian unity with other churches in our region, and works with them for the benefit of the Kingdom of God, and of our fellow citizens.
» We believe that the church and it's ministries can be led by men or women.
